Special Scholarship Information:
This year the Instrumental Music Boosters is pleased to announce that we will be able to offer two $1000 scholarships. The first will be the annual Instrumental Music Boosters Scholarship. The second will be the Deborah Barron Memorial Scholarship. We sincerely thank the family and friends of Deborah Barron, whose generous memorial contributions have made this scholarship possible. Both scholarships will be awarded from the applications that are received so only one application is necessary to be considered for each scholarship.

INSTRUCTIONS

The submission of your application must be in accordance with the enclosed "Guidelines for the Instrumental Music Boosters Scholarship Competition" as set forth in the Rules Governing the Instrumental Music Boosters Scholarship Fund established in 1989.

When your application is completed, return the entire package to the Band Director. The Letters of Recommendations should be returned directly to you, the applicant, before the deadline date. All scholarship packets should be turned in with the student application page, a resume, and 3 letters of recommendation. See page 2 for more details. Failure to comply with any or all of these "Instructions" or with the "Guidelines" could result in the rejection of your application.

Upon receipt of your package, the Band Director will then forward your application packet to the Scholarship Committee.

It is planned to formally announce and present the scholarship winner at or before graduation 2007. Should unforeseen problems arise concerning this competition, the presentation of the scholarship may be postponed. In the event of a postponement, applicants and/or their parents should direct any questions or concerns to the Band Director

GUIDELINES

The North Carroll High School Instrumental Boosters Organization sponsors a $1000 Scholarship Competition each year. This scholarship is awarded to an eligible graduating senior to help further his/her education, and will be distributed to the accredited US College that the student enters for the fall semester of 2007.

This Competition is open only to NCHS students who will complete high school and enter an accredited US College in the same year that they apply for the scholarship.

Each student must submit:
1. A completed application form
2. A resume
3. Three (3) letters of recommendation.
       A. One from a teacher at NCHS
       B. One from an adult that has observed or supervised you in a service role
(This can be a second teacher if they meet the service role requirement)
       C. One from a fellow student in the band or orchestra

The resume should include all instrumental music activities as well as any other extra curricular activities. All letters of recommendation should be returned to the student and turned in along with the student application and resume to the band director as one complete packet.

The criteria used to select the finalist will include:

  1. SERVICE -- Must have taken an active part in the NCHS Instrumental Music Program for at least two consecutive years with a high degree of cooperation, courtesy and consideration of others.
  2. DEPENDABILITY -- Must have been prompt, attentive and alert at rehearsals and performances.
